How do I capture SMS opt-in from Facebook Ads?

When capturing leads using Facebook lead ads, it is important that you capture their SMS opt-in so that you can text them from ClubOS. 

To capture an opt-in on your Facebook lead form, follow the steps below:

  1. After adding the questions to capture lead information (First name, last name, email and phone)
  2. Go to the ‘Privacy Policy’ section of the ad manager 
  3. Add your preferred consent text to the consent box
    Examples:
    1. Please send me marketing and service-related text messages from [Your Brand]. I understand that I can opt out at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions included in the first message.
    2. By providing your number, you agree to receive SMS updates from [Your Brand]. Message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out anytime.
  4. Once the consent text is set, go to ‘Settings’ 
  5. Select ‘Field Names’
  6. Scroll to locate the consent box associated with your SMS opt-in language
  7. Relabel the field to club_os_sms_opt_in
    1. Note: The exact text above must be used for opt-ins to come into ClubOS correctly.
  8. Once you have finalized the items on your lead form, run a test and verify the lead came into ClubOS opted-in to SMS.  If any fields or names did not come in correctly, you may have accidentally updated a form name.  Check out our Facebook Lead Ad Troubleshooting article here.
